Our Story
A Family Adventure Since 2017
Ice Cave In Iceland was founded in 2017 with the simple goal of sharing the beauty of the ice caves in Vatnajökull with travelers around the world.
It all started in 2016 when Boggi, the father of the family, started driving for companies that took both large and small groups to the caves, but he didn’t think it was the right way to show people in big groups the beauty of the ice caves, so he founded Ice Cave In Iceland in 2017 with the goal of taking a few guests at a time, a maximum of 6 per car, and always having the lowest price of anyone selling ice cave tours from the glacier lagoon, and that’s how it still is today in 2025.
Since the company was founded, it has grown into a true family project. Helga, the mother, handles all the bills and double check the bookings, while the youngest daughter Vigdís designed the logo and the first website, but now works as a driver and guide, helping guests experience the glacier safely and comfortably together with Boggi, so now we can offer a total of 12 seats in two cars. Vignir the youngest of 5 then took on the task of updating the website to its current look and is helpful when it comes to social media, for example, managing to regain control of the Instagram page that was hacked in December 2024.
From the beginning, our family business has focused on keeping the groups small, our approach personal, and the experience authentic. This is a way for us to welcome guests into our world and show them the wonders of the glacier that we all love.

Perks
Why Choose Us
If you’re wondering why you should book with us, the answer is simple: we’re a family-run company that’s been exploring these caves since 2017, and we keep our tours small so you never feel lost in the crowd. With us, you’re not just joining another big group — you’re getting a safe, personal, and authentic experience.
Safety & Comfort
Your safety is our top priority. From the moment you step into our 4x4 vehicles to the time you enter the cave, we make sure every detail is handled with care. We provide the right equipment, clear instructions, and experienced guides who know the glacier inside and out.
Small Groups
We believe the best experiences happen in small groups. That’s why we keep our tours limited in size, giving you more space, time, and personal attention. No waiting around for large crowds, no feeling rushed — just a comfortable pace where you can truly enjoy the ice cave. Small groups also mean better safety and a more personal connection with your guide.
Local Stories
Our tours aren’t just about walking into an ice cave — they’re about learning, connecting, and experiencing it like a local. As we guide you through the glacier, we share real stories, insights, and local knowledge that you won’t find in guidebooks. It’s these stories and details that turn a beautiful sight into an unforgettable memory.

Real Stories, Real Experiences
We had an amazing time on this tour! Boggi is incredibly knowledgeable and good fun. The ice caves are magical and Boggi had timed it perfectly to avoid the big tour groups. This allowed us plenty of time to explore the caves without the crowds. He also took some great photos for us.
This was an AMAZING tour! Vigga was an unbelievable tour guide. Vigga and her dad do tours with smaller groups and time them so they go at the least busy times. We got so much more attention and fabulous pictures unlike those huge groups that other tours offer. Highly, highly recommend! Thanks Vigga!
Despite the bad weather, we had an amazing experience with Boggi! He is very engaging, funny, informative, and has the best attitude. Kept us all in great spirits despite being cold and drenched. He timed our visit to the cave so that our family was the only group there (we passed several large groups on the way in). Would highly recommend this tour
